A talk on why local renewable energy is the best hope we have for taking control of our bills, disarming the fossil fuel industry and delivering climate justice, by Howard Johns, founder of POP Energy. 

POP energy is developing a new edge based energy company - that is, a company focused on where power is used, like in your home. Its aim is to turn all of our homes into flexible power stations using solar, batteries and heat pumps. 

As part of our Wake Up Wandsworth campaign, we had a successful action on 4 March to highlight the need for emergency planning at the local level. Now we need to start planning an action around biodiversity for the spring, and to schedule some more talks.  Do join us and get stuck into planning. 

Our fortnightly planning meetings are a good way to meet others from the Wandsworth group. If you're new and prefer just to take a back seat and observe for a bit, that's fine. All welcome!

IT’S AN EMERGENCY!

Wandsworth Council must plan for climate emergency events NOW. We are asking the Council to screen the National Emergency Briefing for all councillors plus leaders from business, education, culture, faith, sport and media.

Our regular planning meeting will not take place as many people from XR Wandsworth will be at the lobby of Wandsworth Council the following day, on Wednesday 4 March, and we will get together in the nearby Brewer's Inn for a catch-up afterwards! Hope to see you there!

CHANGE OF DATE/TIME 
As we’ve got a number of evening meetings next week, we’re moving our usual XR Wandsworth  Planning Meeting to WEDNESDAY 18th  FEBRUARY at 8.00.

 
This will be a short meeting, allowing those attending the online Wild Wandsworth briefing at 7.00 to join us. It will be our last organising session for our ACTION ON 4th MARCH, so hope to see you on Zoom on Wednesday.

We like to vary our choices and this one is Mad Max meets The Road, by a blockbuster Australian author, twice Booker shortlisted, who spent 7 years writing it.
